Yang United Association (YUA) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan cultural and educational organization serving the Yang and broader Hmong community in North and South Carolina. Our mission is to bring people together, preserve our culture, develop strong leaders, and build a sustainable future for the next generation.
YUA exists to support families, empower youth, and create opportunities for members to connect, serve, and grow together.
WHO ARE WE
Families are our foundation
YUA is built on the belief that a strong community requires more than tradition alone. It requires active participation, clear leadership, and long-term vision.
As a nonprofit organization, we operate with structure, transparency, and accountability while honoring the cultural values that bring our community together. Our work is guided by members, supported by volunteers, and strengthened through partnerships within and beyond the Hmong community.
Our Focus
CARE
Everything we do is guided by four focus areas we call CARE
Culture – We protect, teach, and strengthen Hmong traditions through organized support, training, and guidance from elders. Our goal is to ensure that culture is passed down with understanding, respect, and unity.
Active Membership – Members are the heartbeat of YUA. We focus on building connection, camaraderie, and shared responsibility so participation does not fall on the same few people. Through communication, small groups, and meaningful activities, we help members feel known and involved.
Resources – A strong organization requires strong resources. We focus on financial responsibility, transparency, sponsorships, partnerships, and long-term planning so YUA can serve the community sustainably and responsibly.
Empowering the Future (Youth) – Our youth are our future leaders. We invest in mentorship, leadership development, education, and life skills so young people grow with confidence, responsibility, and pride in who they are.
