Join Yang United Association (YUA)

Membership at Yang United Association is about belonging, participation, and shared responsibility. YUA welcomes individuals and families who want to be part of a growing, connected, and forward-looking Yang and Hmong community in North and South Carolina.

Being a member means more than having your name on a list. It means showing up, building relationships, supporting one another, and helping strengthen our community for today and for future generations.

Who Can Join

Membership is open to:

  • Yang family members
  • Spouses and immediate family
  • Individuals who support YUA’s mission and values
  • Those who want to contribute positively to the Yang and broader Hmong community

YUA includes both traditional and Christian members, and we welcome all who respect our culture, values, and community. Our goal is unity, not division.

Why Membership Matters

Members are the heartbeat of YUA. A strong organization depends on active, engaged members who care about its direction and success.

Membership helps:

  • Build stronger relationships and camaraderie
  • Share responsibility so the organization is not carried by the same few people
  • Create opportunities for leadership, service, and growth
  • Ensure YUA remains sustainable and relevant

When members are involved, YUA becomes stronger, more capable, and more united.

Community Support
and Cultural Care

One of YUA’s important roles is supporting families during major life events. Through organized leadership and volunteer support, YUA assists with cultural needs related to weddings, funerals, and other significant events when aligned with our mission and capacity.

This support reflects our commitment to standing with our members during important moments and ensuring families do not feel alone.

What Membership Looks Like

  • Attend meetings and events when possible
  • Participate in activities and programs
  • Support cultural and community efforts
  • Volunteer or serve on committees based on interest and availability
  • Help welcome and engage new members

Participation levels may vary, but every member plays a role in building a healthy organization.

Membership and Community

YUA focuses on creating connection through:

  • Member gatherings and social activities
  • Small groups that build familiarity and trust
  • Cultural, educational, and youth-focused programs
  • Opportunities to serve and support one another

Our goal is to create an environment where members feel known, respected, and connected.
